How to save the world in 15 minutes
J10 – En-ROADs by Climate Interactive, the MIT Sloan School of Management’s System Dynamics Group and Sustainability Initiative, and Ventana Systems
At this month’s Climate Ambition Summit, the UN Secretary General António Guterresat said that, although the task is urgent, the future is not fixed – we can still build a world of clear air, green jobs, and affordable clean power for all.
Imagine then, if policymakers were able to take control of a simple dashboard containing all the potential climate policies they could action, from amending agricultural policies to improving air quality, allowing them to simulate a complete picture of how they could save the world in just 15 minutes.
Climate Interactive, the MIT Sloan School of Management’s System Dynamics Group and Sustainability Initiative, and Ventana Systems have done just that. Together, they’ve created En-ROADS – a free, open tool enabling policymakers, educators, businesses, the media, and the public to test and explore cross-sector climate solutions. It uses the best available data sources, including those from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
What’s really impressive is how people are convening around the tool. Participants in classrooms, corporate boardrooms, and governments are being motivated to step up and give it a go. In fact, the Climate Interactive team is inviting leaders who believe they can cultivate meaningful conversations about climate change solutions to apply for EnROADS Climate Ambassador Camp, starting on 19 October 2023.
We think the tool is very interesting. The data and what you can do with it is extremely powerful. We also love that it’s free and open. As António Guterresat said ‘our world needs climate action on all fronts – everything, everywhere, all at once.’
